Social:

1. Mark Zuckerberg held his first ever ‘townhall’ in India. The much-awaited event was conducted in IIT-Delhi. Apart from answering a series of questions, the facebook founder made it clear that the new concept launched by the social media giant, ‘Internet.org’ will not breach the democracy of netizens. The ‘revolutionary concept’ is introduced with the intent of connecting the underprivileged section of the society and will ensure access to a wide-range of web content, Zuckerberg claimed. Politics:

2. Students of the FTII have decided to withdraw their stand against newly appointed chairman Gajendra Chauhan by calling off their 140-day strike. However, they made it clear that their agitation will continue without hindering the academic discourse.

3. 12 eminent filmmakers including Dibakar Banerjee and Anand Patwardhan returned their national awards citing the growing influence of fringe elements, silencing the voice of reason and stubborn attitude exhibited by the government against the students of FTII.

4. A day after Delhi Police raided the Kerala House in the national capital, Chief Minister Oomen Chandy continued to express his disgust. On Wednesday, he demanded an unconditional apology from the Delhi Police and even threatened to initiate legal proceedings. In a defiant manner, he also instructed the state guest house to continue selling beef (buffalo) dishes.

5. Supreme Court has rejected the petition filed by three infants demanding ban on the use of firecrackers on the occasion of Diwali. However, it instructed the Centre to strictly implement the pollution guidelines.

6. The third phase of Bihar elections concluded today. Polling was conducted in 50 constituencies spread over 6 districts. Voting percentage was recorded at 53.35 per cent. BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad claimed that the NDA will bag 40-42 seats.

7. Salman Khan’s upcoming blockbuster Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo launched its new song ‘Jab Tum Chaho’, where the protagonist, Salman is seen adopting his looks from Dabang, while the lead actress Sonam is evidently upset at him during the course of the song.

8. Putting to rest a plethora of rumours of locking her relationship with Cricketer Virat Kohli, Bollywood diva Anushka Sharma denied any plans of marrying the star batsman.

9. Retired batsman Virendra Sehwag will be felicitated for his outstanding contribution for Indian cricket following the 4th test between India and South Africa in Delhi’s Feroze Shah Kotla.

10. Sunil Chettri became the first Indian to score a hat-trick in the history of the Indian Super League (ISL) as Mumbai City FC thrashed NorthEast United 5-1. The hosts conjured a commanding display as they jumped to second in the table.
