Pune, October 28: Students of the Film and Television Institute of India ended their strike on Wednesday. The striking students ended the four month long strike and declared that they will start attending their classes, but will continue their protests for their demands. The students have been agitating to remove TV actor and chairman Ganjendra Chauhan as well as four others from the board of the institute. This comes after five rounds of meeting between the protesting students and the government did not lead to any conclusion.

The two parties did not come to any resolution of the issue, with neither side ready to compromise on its demands. The last round of talks between the striking students and government officials and the Union minister for information and broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was held on October 20, in Delhi. After three hours of deliberations had not lead to anything conclusive, the students had urged the centre to adopt a more “proactive” approach to resolve their “core concerns with an urgency”. The statement issued by the protesting students after the strike ended, thanked the media for conveying their concerns and issues to people across the country. The statements was issued by Rakesh Shukla, one of the students, and he said that although the more than 140 day strike had ended, the protests will continue on various levels. This means that the students are mulling over other ways to protest, ways which will not come in the way of their academics.
