Delhi, October 20: After several rounds of meetings and negotiations between the agitating students of the Film and Television Institute of India and government have been inconclusive, another attempt will be made on Tuesday. The meeting will be held in the capital city, where Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore will meet the students, who have been protesting for over four months now. The meeting will hopefully resolve the deadlock between the two sides, with neither wanting to compromise on its demands.
While the students have been demanding removal of actor Gajendra Chauhan as the head of the FTII council, the government has rejected it outright. In the last meeting between the two sides on October 10 in Mumbai, it was decided that the students will meet Rathore in the next meeting which is likely to be held here at noon time. Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court received a PIL against the student strike in the Pune based premier media institute. Also Read: FTII row: Fifth meeting to be held on October 20
On Monday, a Pune-based advocate had approached the Bombay high court seeking directions to students of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) on a protest to end their strike. The advocate had also urged the HC to ask the Union of India to take steps to end the strike and adopt a transparent policy while appointing chairpersons of such institutions. The advocate had earlier approached the Supreme Court, with the same petition, but the apex court had refused to intervene, after which he came to the High Court.
