Ganesh Chaturthi is the celebration of Lord Ganpati’s birthday and was started in the 19th century by freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak. Ganpati Chaturthi is generally celebrated on a grand scale in the Indian states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh with other states like Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh also holding small events. This year’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebration in Mumbai has a wide range of themes. The famous Andhericha Raja will be recreating the Ashtavinayak temple, Ballaleshwar which is Pali.

The Mandal is recreating a theme that they crafted 25 years ago and the Ganpati idol will be a replica of the Ballaleshwar Ganesh Murti. On the other hand, the famous Sahyadri Mandal of Tilak Nagar, Chembur has decided to celebrate the Indian farmers as well as digital India movement, with a theme of ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisaan Jai Vigyan’. The complicated theme will bring together everything from the Digital India movement to farmer’s welfare scheme. With largely air-conditioned mandap showing various states of India from the Himalaya and Kashmir to Kanyakumari and the Meenakshi temple, the interior of the Tilak Nagar Ganpati pandal is bound to attract a huge crowd.

While this is just the situation in Mumbai, Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh plans to attract all eyes with its grand Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. A Hindu report reveals that a huge 72-foot Ganesha will be installed in the city where more than 100 artisans are already working on the structure. The pandal aims to promote an eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi and will be distributing 5000 clay Ganeshas. The 72-foot Ganpati idol will also be completely eco-friendly, and craftsmen who erected the sets of Baahubali have been roped in for this project.
