Gaya Road Rage: Ex-JD(U) MLC’s son Rocky Yadav Sentenced to Life Imprisonment

The court sentenced Rocky Yadav to life imprisonment along with Teni Yadav and Rajesh Kumar.

Patna, September 6: A session court in Bihar’s Gaya on Wednesday gave its judgement against Rocky Yadav son of suspended JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi and three others in the Bihar road rage case in which Aditya Sachdeva was murdered in May 2016. The court sentenced Rocky Yadav to life imprisonment along with Teni Yadav and Rajesh Kumar. Rocky’s father, Bindi Yadav was also sentenced to five years imprisonment.

Last week, the court had found Rocky guilty of killing, a Class XII student for overtaking his vehicle in the town on May 7, 2016. Four days after the incident Rocky was arrested on May 11 and was later lodged in Gaya Central jail.

The additional district and sessions judge (ADJ) had found Rakesh Kumar Ranjan alias Rocky, his father Bindi Yadav, his cousin Teni Yadav and his mother’s security guard Rajesh Kumar as guilty under a various section of the Indian Penal Code.

The court found Rocky Yadav guilty of IPC sections 302 (murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 427 (mischief causing damage) and section 27 of the Arms Act. Rocky’s father Bindi Yadav has been held guilty under sections 212 (harbouring the offender) and 177 (furnishing false information).

Last year in October, Rocky was granted bail by the Patna High Court but later the Supreme Court cancelled his bail and was sent back to jail.

After his arrest, Rocky has confessed that he killed Sachadeva. Manorama Devi is a powerful figure and his father is known criminal-turned-politician in Gaya.

The cops had filed charge sheet against the accused a month after the crime was committed.
