New Delhi: In a fresh controversy, Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Friday questioned Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s picture during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Singh has claimed that the picture is photoshopped. Taking it to the micro-blogging Twitter, Singh wrote, “The shadow of the stick is missing.”
Responding to Minister Giriraj Singh’s ‘photoshop’ tweet, the Congress hit back sharing another photo of Rahul Gandhi along with a record of a number of footsteps and total kilometers he has covered so far during his ongoing pilgrimage.
The Twitter war erupted after pictures and videos of Gandhi scion from his pilgrimage had gone viral on the social media. Gandhi has been regularly sharing videos and photos from his pilgrimage. “Shiva is the Universe,” Gandhi tweeted on Friday, with a video to accompany his message.
“The waters of lake Mansarovar are so gentle, tranquil and calm. They give everything and lose nothing. Anyone can drink from them. There is no hatred here. This is why we worship these waters in India,” he said on Twitter. Trolls had insisted that Gandhi had lifted those photos and he wasn’t actually undertaking the Yatra till a leading daily did some reality check and managed to shut the trollers, some of them gracious enough to apologise. Gandhi had left for the Yatra on August 31 and tweeted this by way of explanation: “A man goes to Kailash when it calls him. I am so happy to have this opportunity and to be able to share what I see on this beautiful journey with all of you.” His pilgrimage has been eventful from the word go.
While a section within the BJP criticised him, saffron party MP Tarun Vijay tweeted in his support, drawing appreciative comments from the Congress. Congress spokesperson RS Surjewala took to Twitter to say, “Tarun Vijay Ji, keep your spirits high and stand with the truth fearlessly. Whatever you wrote about Rahul Gandhi on his Kailash Yatra, you deleted it out of fear of the establishment. ‘Satyam, Shivam Sundaram’. Shiva is the truth. Mahadev will keep showing you the path to truth and falsehood will be destroyed.”
