Earlier this week, Global Citizen launched a 15-year campaign to start global goal in India. The global goal’s main focus is quality education, gender quality, and clean water and sanitation.
Global Citizen founder and CEO Hugh Evans said, “The years I spent living and working in India as a teenager were a key catalyst of my passion for challenging the status quo of poverty alleviation. So bringing the Global Citizen movement to India is a moment many years in the making.”
Though Global Citizen is no stranger to improving grassroots activism, campaigns, and online activism, this time, they have decided to take the music festival to India.
Heading the 2016 Global Citizen festival this year will be Coldplay, Jay-Z, Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif, Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Arijit Singh, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Dia Mirza, and Monali Thakur. This event will be held at the MMRDA grounds in Mumbai on November 19.
As for getting access to free Global Citizen Festival tickets, participation in this social movement is necessary after registering on Globalcitizen.in. Tickets can be earned by multiple ways that have to total up to at least 16 points and enters each participant to win tickets for two people.
The first way to winning tickets include signing three types of petitions: the Chief Ministers of India, the Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, and the University Vice Chancellors. All three of these petitions are the start to ensuring each participant agrees to fulfill his or her responsibility to help mobilize change in India. A third part is sending an email to Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank, about improving sanitation.
After that, watch the global goal largest lesson video followed by a quiz. Once that’s done, use Twitter to spread the word with friends and family members. Upload a photo along with the hashtag #IAmAGlobalCitizen, and follow Gandhi’s route to being the change in the world. Spread the word on Twitter using the hashtag, #ShuruaatHoonMain and lastly, refer five friends to Global Citizen India.
Tickets are also being sold in the amounts of Rs. 5000 ($75), Rs. 7500 ($112), Rs. 10,000 ($150).
