Goa nightclub fire: The absconding partner of Goa’s Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, Ajay Gupta, was detained by the Goa police on Tuesday, December 9, in Delhi. Gupta said, “I am just a partner,” after being detained. The owners of the nightclub, the Luthra brothers, are still on the run. The fugitive Luthra brothers left for Phuket on an IndiGo flight within hours of the tragic incident that claimed 25 lives. The authorities were actively trying to locate Ajay Gupta after the mishap.
Who’s Ajay Gupta?
Ajay Gupta is a resident of Delhi and one of the owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, which engulfed 25 lives. The police had already been searching for him and had issued a Look Out Circular (LOC). He was found absconding in Delhi and was heard saying, “I am just a partner. I don’t know anything.” However, as per reports, the police have issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him.
Who are the other partners of the Goa club?
The other partners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub are the Luthra brothers, Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra. According to Goa DGP, they both fled through an IndiGo flight, 6E-1073, by 5:30 am on December 7 to Phuket, Thailand.
Blue Corner Notice issued against fugitive brothers
A blue corner notice of Interpol had already been issued against the fugitive brothers, Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra. The police authorities are actively trying to navigate their whereabouts. During this time, the detention of Ajay Gupta comes as a major breakthrough.

Demolition of illegal restaurant property at Vagator, Goa
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday mentioned that the illegal property of the club will be demolished and the authorities will take ‘bulldozer action.’ The Deputy Director of Goa Tourism, Dhiraj Wagale, said, “We will demolish the encroachment on the beach side. The total area to be demolished is 198 square meters…,” as reported by ANI.
The tragic fire incident in Goa led to the death of 25 individuals before firefighters reached the spot.
