Going home on Ganesh Chaturthi? Indian railways rolls out 380 Ganapati special trains between Mumbai CSMT to Konkan; Check list and stops

The Indian Railways has rolled out a record 380 Ganpati Special train trips to make travel smoother for devotees. These trains will connect Maharashtra, the Konkan region, and other key routes, helping people reach their hometowns and temples without the festive travel chaos. On Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off the first Ganpati Special train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Sawantwadi in the Konkan region. The CM shared a video on his official account, showing him waving to passengers as the train departed.

Talking to reporters, Fadnavis said, “Many people from Konkan who live in Mumbai travel back to their hometowns to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi. With the blessings of Prime Minister Modi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, a total of 367 special trains will run for the Konkan region this year. The BJP has sponsored

The number of these special trains has been going up every year. In 2023, there were 305 trains, which went up to 358 in 2024. This year, to meet the rising demand during the 10-day celebration, Railways has planned 380 trips – the highest ever.

Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated from August 27 to September 6, 2025. To handle the festive rush, Indian Railways started running these special trains from August 11, 2025, and will keep adding more services as the festival approaches.

Ganpati Special trains bookings

Bookings for the Ganpati Special trains are now open on the IRCTC website, the RailOne app, and at railway reservation counters.

Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the biggest festivals in western India, will be celebrated this year from August 27 to September 6. This period usually sees a sharp rise in travel as families head back to their hometowns.

To handle the festive rush, Indian Railways has planned a record number of special trips, making it easier for passengers to find tickets and travel comfortably during one of the busiest times of the year.

  • CSMT–Ratnagiri–CSMT Daily Specials: 36 services
  • LTT–Sawantwadi Road–LTT Daily Specials: 36 services
  • LTT–Madgaon Weekly Specials: 4 services
  • LTT–Sawantwadi Road Weekly Specials: 6 services
  • LTT–Madgaon AC Weekly Specials: 6 services
  • Pune–Ratnagiri Weekly Specials: 6 services
  • Pune–Ratnagiri AC Weekly Specials: 6 services
  • Diva–Chiplun–Diva MEMU Daily Unreserved Specials: 38 services
  • LTT–Sawantwadi Road Bi-weekly Specials: 8 + 8 services

Trains passing through the Konkan region will stop at major towns to make travel easier for devotees. Key stops on the Konkan Railway routes include:
