As mentioned earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert in the Karnataka capital, with predictions of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning in several parts of the city. According to the weather bulletin, “A cyclonic circulation lies over Madhya Maharashtra and a trough runs from northwest Rajasthan to west Vidarbha in lower tropospheric level.” This will have a significant impact on the Bengaluru Weather, according to the met department.
For the last few days, parts of Central Bengaluru including Marathahalli, CV Raman Nagar, Indiranagar, Vijayanagar, KR Puram, Ramamurthy Nagar, Banaswadi and Mahadevapura among other locations have been experiencing heavy rains after a long period of scorching heatwave conditions.
Speaking about the weekly forecast regarding Bengaluru Weather, by the IMD, rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are expected to continue for the coming week and the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 35 and 23 degree Celsius respectively. According to IMD, thunderstorm, lightning and squall is expected in North and South Interior Karnataka on May 11; heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning is expected on May 12 in South Interior Karnataka and on May 13 and May 14 in both south and north interior regions of the state.
The city had been waiting to experience the monsoon which had been delayed by over 160 days and the conditions worsened because of the severe water shortage in the Karnataka capital – the ground water resources had also dried up significantly. The city had not seen such a dry spell in more than four decades. However now, the incessant rainfall is causing waterlogging in multiple areas.
