New Delhi: A day after a self-proclaimed US-based Indian cyber expert alleged that Gopinath Munde was killed as he was aware that 2014 Lok Sabha elections were rigged, the Bharatiya Janta Party leader’s nephew Dhananjay Munde has sought an investigation on the same either by R&AW or a Supreme Court judge.
“A cyber expert has made a sensational claim that former Union Minister Late Gopinathrao Munde saheb was murdered. This claim needs immediate attention and investigation from RAW/Supreme Court, as it is directly linked to the death of mass leader,” Dhananjay Munde, Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council tweeted with hashtag EVM hacking.
Terming the cyber expert’s claim shocking, Dhananjay Munde, asserted that those who loved Gopinath Munde had always raised questions over his death wondering, “if it actually was an accident or sabotage”.
Furthermore the NCP leader said,”After today’s revelation, the doubt has been addressed. If the claim of EVM Hacking is true, then it also violate the norms of the biggest democracy of the world(sic).”
Notably, Munde died in a road accident in New Delhi weeks after the BJP won the 2014 elections. The cyber expert had claimed the NIA officer investigating Munde’s death, Tanzil Ahmed, was planning to file an FIR noting he had been murdered, but was himself killed.
Earlier on Monday, the cyber expert named Syed Suja, had claimed that the 2014 general election was “rigged” through the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), which, he says, can be hacked. Addressing a press conference in London via Skype, Suja said that he fled India in 2014 because he felt threatened in the country after the killing of some of his team members. Although he appeared on screen through Skype, his face was masked.
Moreover, he claimed the telecom giant Reliance Jio helped the BJP to get low-frequency signals to hack the EVMs. Shuja said the BJP would have won Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh elections if his team hadn’t intercepted the BJP attempts to hack the transmissions in these states.
Shuja said that he was part of a team which designed the EVMs used in the 2014 elections. He said that he and his team were instructed by the ECIL to find out if EVMs could be hacked, and find out how to do this. He said that other than the BJP, the SP, BSP, AAP and Congress too are involved in the EVMs rigging.
Rejecting the claims, the BJP described this explosive allegation as a “hacking horror show organised” by the Congress and said the opposition party has begun looking for an excuse for its likely defeat in the next Lok Sabha polls.
In a sharp attack on the Congress, Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said its leader Kapil Sibal’s presence at the press conference in London was not a coincidence. Naqvi alleged that top Congress leaders, including its president Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi, would have sent Sibal as their “postman”.
