New Delhi, Dec 11: BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain today said the government will use recovered black money for the country’s development and that it won’t be deposited in individual accounts.Hussain’s remarks, made during an event here, were contested by Congress leader RPN Singh and CPI leader Atul Anjan who said that the BJP leader’s remarks were in contrast to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s electoral promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh in bank account of every family.Hussain, who is BJP’s national spokesperson, claimed that the government was moving ahead on the black money issue and that it was “about to return” to the country but that he was not in a position to disclose details as the matter was sub-judice.

“Black money is about to return to the country. Government has the list of names but those cannot be disclosed due to treaties with other countries. But that money will not go to individual accounts and would rather be used for the country’s development,” Hussain added. The three leaders were speaking at the ‘Agenda Aajtak’ event here.Asked about the National Herald issue, RPN Singh, who was a minister in the UPA government, said that it was reminiscent of the time when Indira Gandhi had to face “similar pressure” after she was voted out of power in 1977.”She (Indira) was even sent to jail.(Also Read: Government strategy to unearth black money is a joke: Mohandas Pai)

People saw all that and brought her back to power within one-and-a-half years. Rajiv (Gandhi) was also harassed over Bofors but ultimately nothing came out,” Singh said.Anjan, who is CPI’s national secretary, appeared to defend Congress’ obstruction of Rajya Sabha proceedings saying that the reason behind such stalling went beyond the National Herald issue.”GST is a big issue. The BJP should admit that it was wrong in blocking the same legislation brought out by the Congress. Why had Arun Jaitley opposed the Bill then?” Anjan asked.
