New Delhi: In a bid to reduce panic among citizens in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic in India, the central government on Friday announced launched a WhatsApp helpdesk for users to ask away their queries pertaining to the viral infection and save them from falling prey to misinformation. The helpdesk, called ‘MyGov Corona Helpdesk’, is available for all users on the popular chatting application WhastApp. All a person needs to do to join the chat send a message to the helpline number – 9013151515. Also Read - India Cricketer Rishi Dhawan Fined For Roaming in Car During Lockdown

> Add the helpdesk number ‘9013151515’ to your contact list. Save it as ‘MyGov Corona Helpdesk’.



> Open WhatsApp on your phone and search for the contact.

> Send a message, any question you have, on the chat group.

The initiative is expected to mitigate the circulation of fake news and the spreading of misinformation among the masses and create awareness on preventive measures pertaining to coronavirus.

Besides, the Union Health Ministry also announced a toll free number 1075 for people to seek information about COVID-19 and steer clear of all kinds of fake news.

Until Friday evening, the health ministry noted a total of 206 positive cases reported in the country so far. More than 6,700 contacts of them are being monitored. The death toll stands at four, the ministry said and added that they were all over 64 years of age and had co-morbidity that made them more vulnerable.
