New Delhi, May 16: Former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju once again stirred controversy and said that the Central and state government should start Gau Rakshak Training Institutes (GRTI) to abolish unemployment in the country. “People had set up engineering colleges in India to make money, but now there are no engineering jobs. So I recommend that the Central/ State governments and private sector now start Gau Rakshak Training Institutes, as there is huge demand for gau rakshaks in the country,” Katju wrote on his Facebook page.
“I am told that about 90% engineering graduates in India are unemployed. I am sure that the Gau Rakshak Institutes will witness 100% campus placements, and will thus wipe out unemployment in the country,” Katju said.
He said that the GRTI will award various degrees and reduce unemployment in the country. “The Gau Rakshak Training Institutes will have courses to award B.G.R. ( Bachelor in Gau Raksha ), M.G.R., & Ph.D. ( G.R. ) degrees. Lab technicians will be required in the GRTIs to check pH, alkalinity, nutrient content of Gau mutra and gobar. This will reduce unemployment,” Katju said.
There have been a spurt in the incidents involving self-proclaimed gau raksha activists who have felt it fit to take law into their own hands. Last month, 55-year-old Pehlu Khan, who hailed from Haryana, was beaten to death by cow vigilantes in Behror when he along with others was allegedly transporting cows illegally from Jaipur to Haryana.
