New Delhi, Sept 7: Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that the Central government is considering the option of reconvening the Monsoon Session of Parliament to pass the constitution amendment bill required to implement the Good and Services Tax (GST).
“In a day or two, we will take our final call on extended session of Parliament,” Naidu said on Monday. Highlighting the necessity of the taxation reform bill, the senior BJP leader added, “India has to take extra steps to strengthen its economy, like the GST bill. The GST bill is stuck in the Rajya Sabha due to the obstructionist policy of the opposition-led by Congress, who had been demanding the resignations of tainted BJP ministers before resuming transactions in the House. After receiving clearance from the Lok Sabha in Summer Session of parliament, the bill could not be passed in the Upper House where the numbers are not in favour of the ruling party.
