GST Impact: Rs 10 lakh Discount to be Offered on Mercedes, BMW, Audi, JLR

Toyota has increased the prices of its hybrid cars Camry and Toyota Prius by over Rs 3.5 lakh. The prices are up by a whopping Rs 5.24 lakh in Delhi. Toyota is giving a discount of Rs 2 lakh on Fortuner.

New Delhi, July 3: The Goods and Services Tax (GST) has come as a boon for car enthusiasts. A day after Maruti and many other car makers announced discounts on various models, the prices of ultra luxury cars like Mercedes, BMW, Audi and JLR can come down drastically. According to a report in the Economic Times, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar Land Rover will give a discount of 10 per cent on their cars.

The report further says that Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW had decided to pass on the GST benefits before July 1. After the GST was implemented, JLR was the first company to announce up to 7 per cent discount on locally-assembled models. The Mercedes has welcomed the tax reform and has said that the company showrooms are seeing an increased footfall, which is a positive indication. According to reports, the high-end models of all these cars can see up to discount of Rs 10 lakh, which is whopping, to say the least.

In the small car segment, Maruti Suzuki has already announced massive discounts on its cars. Maruti Ciaz buyers will get the maximum benefit as they will get a discount of Rs 23, 400. Here is the revised price list after GST.

• Alto– Rs 2300 to Rs 5400
• Wagon R–Rs 5300 to Rs 8300
• Swift–Rs 6700 to Rs 10700
• Baleno–Rs 6600 to Rs 13100
• Dezire–Rs 8100 to Rs 15100
• Ertiga (Petrol)– Rs 21800
• Ciaz–Rs 23400
• Vitara Breza– Rs 10400 to Rs 14700
