Gujarat: Policeman Seriously Injured After Bootlegger Drives Car Over His Legs

Dangi has been charged with attempt to murder along with other offences under the Indian Penal Code and the Gujarat Prohibition Act, he said.

Ahmedabad: In a bid to escape from a check post, an alleged bootlegger ran a car over legs of a policeman leaving him seriously injured. The incident took place on Saturday on the Gujarat-Rajasthan border in Aravalli district of Gujarat.

Speaking to PTI, sub inspector M P Chauhan said,”Head constable Jitendra Damor sustained serious injuries on both legs after Om Prakash Dangi, a bootlegger from Rajasthan, tried to drive past a barricade set up at Shamlaji.”

“Dangi was asked to halt his car by Damor but he tried to speed away and ran the vehicle over the policeman’s legs. Damor has sustained serious injuries on both legs,” Chauhan told the news agency.

Damor was operated on one leg in a private hospital where he is admitted, the official informed. He added,”Police, however, managed to nab Dangi. Liquor worth Rs 1.16 lakh was also recovered from his car.”
