New Delhi, Aug 17: A 50-year-old rape convict who was released on parole repeated the crime for which he was imprisoned. A few days after getting parole from the Rajkot Central Jail, the school teacher Dhaval Trivedi allegedly eloped with a college girl in Chotila. The second-year BCom student of Rajkot-based college used to commute between Chotila and Rajkot to attend her classes. According to a TOI report, Dhaval Trivedi was granted parole for a period of 15 days from July 28. After getting the parole, Trivedi went to Chotila and met his jail mate Jaideep Dhandhal. Later Trivedi rented the premises of a private tuition class and began taking coaching classes for the English language. Trivedi introduced himself as ‘Dharmendra Sir’. The girl came in contact with Trivedi through the English coaching class that she attended. On August 11, a day before the accused had to report back to the central jail, the girl went missing. Trivedi allegedly eloped with the girl on that day. Unable to find the girl, even after searching for four days, the girl’s parents lodged a complaint on August 15. Upon investigation, police scanned the footages of CCTV camera installed near the tuition class. The true identity of ‘Dharmendra Sir’ was identified by the police and was confirmed as Dhaval Trivedi himself. “On reaching Chotila, Trivedi immediately called up Dhandhal and asked him to find rented premises to start English coaching. Dhandhal had earlier attended the tuition classes run by the 18-year-old girl’s relative. Trivedi started the classes in this premises and offered job guarantee to all those who complete the three-month course,” said Deputy superintendent Jadeja.
Out of the nine girls who attended the English coaching class, Trivedi targeted the college girl. He allegedly held the girl for an hour extra every time she came to attend his class. “However, Trivedi started calling this girl one-hour early every day and finally lured her,” added the DySP.
On March 23, the Gujarat rape convict was sentenced to life imprisonment for abducting and raping two grade XI girls in Padadhari town near Rajkot. Dhaval Trivedi had eloped with eight women after his two failed marriages. In fact, Trivedi has been involved in such notorious acts since 2010.
