New Delhi, December 13: A day ahead of second and final phase voting of Gujarat Assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad on Wednesday appealed to the voters to vote ‘wisely’ while taking a dig at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) using the party symbol lotus. Lalu, in his tweet, accused the BJP of cheating people by making false promises and asked the voters to give the party a befitting reply.
“Kamal ka phool always banaing April fool. Rehna cool na karna bhool, chatana dhool (The lotus flower is making a fool of people. Stay calm and vote wisely),” Lalu tweeted.

The voting for the second phase of elections will take place on December 14 in which 93 constituencies will go to polls. The state is witnessing a close contest between BJP and Congress with senior leaders of both the parties having campaigned extensively. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President-elect Rahul Gandhi criss-crossed the state wooing voters and Tuesday was the last day of campaigning.
The BJP has been ruling Gujarat for 22 years with Modi being the chief minister for 13 years till May 2014. The elections are also a litmus test for the BJP as the state is going to polls for the first time after Modi assumed office in New Delhi.
