New Delhi, October 28: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said that it will contest its “traditional” four to five seats in Gujarat. The JD(U) chief also urged the Election Commission to reject the Sharad Yadav’s claim over the party symbol so that it can fight the assembly election.
KC Tyagi, spokesperson of JD(U) said there have been no talks with the BJP for an alliance in Gujarat assembly polls, though they are part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
He also attacked the rival faction and said documents filed with the Election Commission by its then general secretary Javed Raza, who is now with Yadav, on the unanimous election of Nitish Kumar as its president last year.
Tyagi said that the rival faction also submitted a fresh set of documents supporting its claim on the party symbol ‘arrow’ in the Election Commission on October 26 despite the fact that EC has already announced that the JD(U) led by Nitish Kumar is the real Janata Dal (United).
The JD(U) leader had also alleged that Sharad Yadav-led group also submitted “forged” documents in the Election Commission which amounts a clear case of “forgery and contempt”.
Tyagi further said that the EC must reject them and take a quick decision on the matter as his party would need the symbol to contest the upcoming Gujarat polls.
He said that the JD(U) led by Nitish Kumar will contest on four to five “traditional” seats in Gujarat.
