New Delhi, Dec 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote in Sabarmati’s Ranip during second phase of Gujarat Assembly elections 2017 on Thursday. Wearing a white kurta paijama and a navy blue coloured bandi (jacket), PM Modi stood in queue and interacted with people waiting to cast their vote amid heavy security. After exercising his voting rights, PM Modi strolled across the street outside the polling station flashing his inked finger to the crowd chanting  ‘Modi, Modi’.  In what resembled a mini-roadshow, the PM then took a ride in his bullet-proof  SUV showing his inked finger to the crowd gathered on either sides of the street an buildings.

Earlier, PM Modi appealed to the voters in Gujarat to exercise their franchise in the second phase of polling that has begun. “Today is Phase 2 of the Gujarat elections. I request all those voting today to vote in record numbers and enrich this festival of democracy,” Modi said in a tweet.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, state Congress chief Bharatsinh Solanki and Patidar leader Hardik Patel have cast their vote. (Also Read: PM Modi’s Mother Heeraben Casts Vote in Gandhinagar)

While Jaitley cast his vote in Ahmedabad, Nitin Patel cast his vote from the Kadi region. Solanki reached his native Mendarda village in Borsad to cast his vote and Hardik Patel cast his vote in Viramgam.

Over two crore voters will chose from 851 candidates who are in the fray in this last phase of polling that began in 93 assembly constituencies across 14 districts at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm.
