New Delhi, April 30: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Sunday compared Internet search engine Google to the like of mythological sage Narad. Chief Minister Rupani claimed that just like Narad had the information to everything happening in the world, Google too did the same. Rupani’s statement about Google is quite similar to the statements which have been made by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb earlier in which he said that Internet and satellite communication existed in the days of Mahabharata.

Speaking at an event which was celebrating Devarshi Narad Jayanti Rupani said that his statement was relevant as Narad was a man who had information to each and everything. The sage collected information for the betterment of the mankind, added Rupani. He further said that Google was just like Narad as it is the source of information and it has answers to each and every question in the world.

The event had been organised by the Vishwa Samvad Kendra, which is the media wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to felicitate journalists in the state. Rupani said that unlike the prevalent notion that politicians do not like media, his office understood the importance and relevance of media in today’s time and hence his office took cognizance of news reported by the media. He added that for a democracy to function well, it was necessary for the media to play a decisive role. Saying that, he also added that just like Narad filtered news and brought good things for the welfare of the mankind, similarly it is the responsibility of the media to act wisely and bring out news aimed to benefiting the people.
