Gujarat Elections 2017 Results: BJP Wins 4 Out of 5 Seats in Valsad District, Congress Bags Kaprada Seat

Bharatiya Janata Party candidates have been elected as MLAs in Umbergaon, Pardi, Valsad and Dharampur. BJP candidate Patkar Ramanlal Nanubhai was elected from Umbergaon with 96004 votes.

Gandhinagar, December 18: The Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017 witnessed a high-stakes political contest between the two leading parties, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. While from the last 22 years BJP is in power, Congress tried hard to triumph in the Gujarat elections 2017 by winning the Patidar votes.  In a major setback to the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 4 out of the 5 seats in Valsad district. Bharatiya Janata Party candidates have been elected as MLAs in Umbergaon, Pardi, Valsad and Dharampur. BJP candidate Patkar Ramanlal Nanubhai was elected from Umbergaon with 96004 votes.

Another BJP candidate Desai Kanubhai Mohanlal was elected from Pardi with 98379, BJP candidate Bharatbhai Kikubhai Patel was elected from Valsad with 101736 votes and BJP candidate Arvind Chhotubhai Patel was elected as an MLA Dharampur with 94944 votes.

Meanwhile, Congress only managed to bag just one seat in Valsad- the Kaprada seat. Congress candidate Chaudhari Jitubhai Harjibhai was elected as an MLA from Kaprada constituency with 93000 votes. Voting in Gujarat was conducted in two phases on December 9 2017 and 14 December 2017. For the first time in Gujarat elections, a total of 102 polling stations were manned completely by women. It has to be noted that the current 182 member assembly’s term will come to end on 23 January 2018.
