Porbandar, Oct 7: A huge explosion was reported on Friday at Porbandar Naval Base in Gujarat. According to initial reports, loud explosion was heard near Porbandar Naval Base in Gujarat. Firing was also reported outside Porbandar Naval Base. Gujarat Police and fire tenders have been rushed to the spot. The blast took place near security gate of Porbandar Naval Base, which has been named after first Home Minister of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. However the report about the blast turned out to be erroneous. “It was a fire cracker that exploded near Porbandar Naval Base,” said Indian Navy.
Heavy security deployment was seen outside Porbandar Naval Base after reports of an explosion. The Indian Navy has now clarified that sound was of firecrackers and there is no terror conspiracy behind the explosion. The news of blast at Porbandar Naval Base spread like a wildfire with people suspecting another terrorists attack. In order to stop false information from getting spreaded, Indian Navy came out with the clarification and said that the noise was of firecracker.

According to reports, LCB, SOG, Range IG and Gujarat Police officers have reached at Porbandar Naval Base where an explosion has taken place. “Noise heard at/ off Porbandar Naval Base is of Fire Crackers,” tweeted official Twitter account of Indian Navy’s spokesperson. The Gujarat Police has been on alert since surgical strike in pakistan-occupied Kashmir. There is no immediate report of casualties till now. The Porbandar Naval base is one of the most sensitive naval base in the country.
