New Delhi: Two severely injured persons have been rescued from the debris of the several other labourers who were feared to be trapped in a building collapse on Saturday in Chhani Jakatnaka area of Vadodara in Gujarat, stated news agency ANI. Soon after the accident, fire brigades rushed to the spot to undertake rescue operations. The building collapsed while the labourers were demolishing the building.

The Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Vadodara Sudhir Patel was quoted by news agency ANI as saying, “This was an old building of L&T company. The company was demolishing the building on its own. During the demolition, the front part of the building suddenly collapsed.”

Sudhir Patel added that all the machinery and manpower required to carry on the rescue operations have been mobilized. Later in the day, Standing Committee Chairman of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation Satish Patel told news agency ANI, “After the building collapsed, the entire fire brigade team of the corporation was pressed for rescue operations. Two people have been rescued. Rescue operations are underway on a war footing.”

In yet another accident on October 14, at least 10 people were killed and several others injured after a two-storey building collapsed following a cylinder blast in Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place at around 7:30 AM in Waleedpur village under Mohammadabad Police Station in Mau. All the injured were immediately referred to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, stated a report.
