Ahemdabad, Feb 28: In order to prevent any cheating and malpractices in the Gujarat State Subsidiary Selection Board (GSSSB) examination, the state government has blocked mobile internet in the state till the afternoon. The Board, also known as the Gaun Seva Pasandgi Mandal had requested that the services be blocked, given the sensitive nature of the examinations. In a move that has been unheard of before, the services were blocked for four hours, from 10 am to 1 pm, during the time of the examination.

A notification announcing the block said, “Considering the sensitive nature of the exam for recruitment of talatis,internet service providers have been asked to shut down all internet-based social media services from 9am to1pm to prevent the misuse of mobiles during the exam.” Speaking to the Times of India, GSSSB chairperson Asit Vora said that the request had been especially made for this examination. “This will reduce the chances of misuse of mobile phones during the exam.” Also Read: Gseb.org GSEB 10th SSC Results 2015 Official Website: Gujarat Board SSC X Results declared

“More than eight lakh candidates will take the test in various districts”, he added. The extra precautionary measure was taken keeping in mind the paper leak in 2015. Papers of talatis examination had been leaked in 2015, forcing the authorities to conduct the exam again, thereby wasting huge amounts of money and time. The measure may be called extravagant was implemented in good time, so as to prevent the eventuality of any malpractice or irregularities.
