Kolkata, Jan 5: Police on Friday raided the residence of a person at Burrabazar in Kolkata after locals complained of flesh trade being operated out of it. The owner, who is believed to be a follower of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, is absconding. Meanwhile, an investigation is underway in the matter. The owner, Pramod Singhania, used to run flesh trade in his guest house which came to light on December 25 when locals spotted a couple in an objectionable position in a wooden cabin. The guest house reportedly, comprised of nearly 25 such wooden cabins of 10×10 dimension with beddings.
The angry locals also alleged that Singhania, along with several minor girls, escaped through a secret tunnel minutes before the police arrived.
“We went to the house on 25th December and discovered prostitution being practiced there. We also found minor boys and girls there. The landlord escaped through a secret tunnel after we got hold of him. Although it functioned as a guest house it also floated flesh trade,” a local was quoted as saying by ANI.
