Gurugram: An IT executive in Gurugram has alleged seven men of attempting to rape her on Thursday night. The police have arrested five accused while, two others are still at large. The incident brings back the chilling memory of the horrific Nirbhaya gangrape case.
The men, reportedly, tried to sexually assault the 21-year-old around 9.50 PM on September 20. The girl lives on the second floor of the building and the incident happened while she was climbing the stairs. The police was informed about the incident by the family of the girl who cornered the accused after the girl narrated the ordeal she had to face.
In her complaint to the police, the girl stated that the accused even tried to attack her family when they interrupted. She claimed that while climbing the stairs, one of the seven accused waylaid her and attempted sexual assault.
Five accused, identified as Sawan, Ankit, Mukesh, Abhishek, Sachin, have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. While the other two – Hemant and Kamal Nandi – are yet to be nabbed by the police.
An FIR has been registered against the accused at Kherki Daula police station under sections 354-A (sexual assault), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (insult of modesty) and 376-511 (rape attempt), a report claimed.
