Gurugram, March 29: Gurugram on Wednesday followed the footsteps of Uttar Pradesh to shut down the illegal meat shops in the city. As per a report on India Today, close to 200 Shiv Sena workers from The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Haryana state asked around 500 meat and chicken shops to not to serve or sell non-veg in Gurugram city. The Sena men have also asked the meat shop owners to not to sell meat until Navratri, that is for 9 days.
The international fame KFC outlet in Gurugram sector 14 was also asked to follow the same lines of the 500 meat shops. KFC spokesperson on this incident told the global fast food chain did not receive any prior notification for Navratras, also KFC respects religious beliefs and all have the right to make a choice for themselves. Areas of Gurugram city which witnessed this incident are DLF, Sushant Lok, Sohna Road and Badshahpur.
Shiv Sena backed out from this incident saying it had no hand in this. Harshal Pradhan, media advisor to Shiv Sena’s Chief Uddhav Thackeray stated that Sena wasn’t involved in such an incident and had no clue about Ritu Raj who was the driver of this incident.
Raj who claims to be associated by Shiv Sena said that the only shops which were illegal were forced to shut down as they did not have a licence and also many of the shops did not follow guidelines. Raj told that the shops had advance notice of this.
Gurugram cops assured of taking an action and so far the police have not received a complaint.
