Varanasi: In the major decision on the Gyanvapi Case, the Varanasi Court on Wednesday granted permission to the Hindu side to offer prayers inside the mosque. The decision clears the way for the starting of puja within the premises in the next seven days. Reacting to the court’s verdict, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that the decision taken by the court completely wrong and it’s a violation of the Places of Worship Act 1991. He also raised questions on the findings of the Fragments of ‘idols’ that were found in Gyanvapi complex during the ASI’s scientific survey. “The decision taken by the court has decided the entire matter…This is a violation of the Places of Worship Act, 1991…This is a completely wrong decision..,” ANI quoted Asaduddin Owaisi as saying.

“Puja will start within seven days. Everyone will have the right to perform Puja,” said Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing the Hindu side.Jain further said that the district administration will have to make arrangements within a week.
The AIMIM chief further raised questions on the judge’s decision stating that he himself said that no prayers were offered at the mosque premises in the last 30 years.
“The judge who gave the decision was his last day before retirement. The judge appointed the District Magistrate as receiver on January 17 and finally he has directly given the verdict. He himself said that no prayers were offered since 1993. It has been 30 years. How does he know there is idol inside? This is violation of Places of Worship Act,” ANI quoted Owaisi as saying.
Calling the decision wrong, Owaisi slammed the BJP-led central government by sating that the Modi government does not said that they stand by the Places of Worship Act.
“He has ordered to open the grills within 7 days. 30 days should have been given to make an appeal. This is wrong decision. Till the time Modi government does not state that they stand by the Places of Worship Act this will go on. During Babri Masjid title suit judgement, I had raised this apprehension. Places of Worship Act was made a part of the basic structure of the Supreme Court decision, then why are the lower courts not following the order?” he said.
The Varanasi court on Wednesday allowed Hindu devotees to offer prayers inside mosque premises at the ‘Vyas Ka Tekhana’ area. The court ordered the district administration to make the necessary arrangements in the next seven days so that the Hindu devotees will offer prayers at the mosque without any hassle.
“Puja will start within seven days. Everyone will have the right to perform Puja,” ANI quoted advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain (representing the Hindu side) as saying.
“Hindu side is allowed to offer prayers at ‘Vyas Ka Tekhana’. The District Administration will have to make arrangements within 7 days,” he added.
Enshrined within the walls of the Gyanvapi Mosque are four hidden chambers known as ‘tahkhanas’. One of these secretive spaces is home to the Vyas family heritage, a lineage that has resided there in the past. Coming from a long line of priests, the Vyas family now seeks approval to step back into the tahkhana, hoping to rekindle their historical religious practices.
