New Delhi: The centre is taking stern steps to control the price of hand sanitizers, masks etc as reports of these things being sold at much higher prices are pouring in. Consumer affairs minister Ram Vilas Pawan tweeted a two-ply mask shall not cost more than Rs 8 and a three-ply mask shall not cost more than Rs 10. A 200 ml bottle of hand sanitizer shall not cost more than Rs 100. The minister tweeted that these prices will be fixed within June 30. On Thursday, the government has said the prices of alcohols used in manufacturing hand sanitizers have been capped under the Essential Commodities Act.
On March 13, the government had declared masks, including the N95 variant, and hand sanitizers as essential commodities.
