May 27: In a shocking statement, Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana, KP Singh on Thursday said that common people have all the rights to take a criminal’s life. He said that the common man may not know this, but can kill a person who tries to harm them. Singh also said that people can also kill eve-teasers. Singh said, If someone insults a woman or tries to kill a person,then common man has right to take his(criminal)life.”
DGP of the state who is suppose to implement law and order stunned his audience by asking to law take in their hands. The Haryana DGP also said that as per law, if someone tries to burn down someone else’s house, the person can kill the miscreant. Assuring people, he said that police will always be there for their help, but people have to understand where they have take action. He said, “Police is already there, but you need to understand your role as a common man.”
Singh’s controversial statement comes a day after a suspended Haryana police personnel allegedly opened fire after a family of four members in a clash between two groups at Utavad village. The incident occurred on Wednesday after someone from one group passed some “objectionable” remarks on a woman from the rival group.
