Chandigarh, Jan 17: Amid outrage over three savage rape and killings, another incident of rape was reported from Haryana. A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 15-year-old boy in Hisar district on Tuesday. “We got information that a three-and-a-half-year-old girl was raped. The case was registered. The accused, her 15-year-old neighbour, was rounded up and produced before Juvenile Justice Board today,” Jitender Kumar, DSP, Hisar told news agency ANI. The girl’s parents are migrant labourers from Bihar, while the accused boy was currently residing with his uncle, who also hails from the same state. The incident of rape took place when victim’s parents were away for work. The girl narrated the incident to her parents when they returned home last evening. “The girl along with her brother, who is only couple of years older to her, were alone at home yesterday when the accused boy lured her to accompany him to another place and raped her,” Hisar Superintendent of Police Manisha Choudhary told PTI.
The accused juvenile has been booked under relevant provisions of the law, the SP said. The boy was apprehended from his home today and sent to an observation home, the officer said. The SP said the accused boy was not enrolled in any school and therefore, did not have an educational background.
Haryana has been rattled by a series of rape cases in the past one week. The body of a 15-year-old girl was found on January 13 after she went missing on her way to tuition at her village in Kurukshetra. It was revealed that was raped, tortured and killed.
In a separate incident, an 11-year-old Dalit girl was raped and murdered allegedly by her two neighbours in Panipat district on Saturday night. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, however, defended his government and urged the opposition parties not to politicise the recent rape cases in the state.
