Hyderabad, Sept 7: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu sparked a row when he came up with a unique solution to reduce the increasing dependency on robots. Addressing a gathering on Teacher’s Day, Chandrababu Naidu advised educated couples to have more children to reduce reliance on robots. The Chief Minister said couples hesitate to have babies to avoid financial burden.

Chandrababu Naidu said that he had advocated family planning in the past, but the need of the hour was to have more kids. Otherwise, we need to employ robots, he warned. “I used to advocate family planning. But now I am asking people to have more kids, so that our dependency on robots will decrease,” Naidu was quoted as saying by the Deccan Chronicle.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief said the educated couples don’t want to bear the expenses of raising babies. “In the present generation, couples prefer less number of children as they consider more will be a burden. This is particularly evident among educated couples,” he said. “Balance is necessary. If there is an imbalance, and a lack of youngsters, as we are witnessing in countries like Japan, we have to employ robots instead of humans,” he added.

Opposition parties took strong objection over the remarks of Chandrababu Naidu. YSRC MLA RK Roja said that Naidu had to answer first why he had stopped with Lokesh and Lokesh with Devansh. Taking a dig at the Chief Minister, Congress leader Sunkara Padmasri said he might have made those statements out of resentment of having a son like Lokesh who is immature and incapable of running the show of politics, reported DC.
