New Delhi: A day after after a video clip of HD Kumaraswamy telling someone that the killers of Janata Dal Secular (JD-S) leader be shown no mercy emerged, Karnataka Chief Minister defended himself saying,”I was emotional at that moment.”
“It was (kill assailants mercilessly) not a CM’s order. I was emotional at that moment. They (killers ) are the reason for two murders and they were in jail. They came out on bail two days ago and killed another person (JDS leader Prakash). This is how they are misusing bail,” the Karnataka CM stated.
Earlier on Monday, JD(S)-Congress led state government was left red-faced after a video clip, that purportedly has Kumaraswamy telling someone that the killers of a party leader be “mercilessly” eliminated, went viral. Notably, the clip surfaced hours after the killing of a Janata Dal (Secular) leader in Mandya district on Monday.
The CM can be heard saying on the phone, from the crime scene, “He was a good man. I don’t know who killed him and who killed him in this manner. Shoot them (the killers) mercilessly, there would be no issues.”
He was reportedly talking to senior police officials.
JD(S) leader Prakash was hacked to death around 4.30 PM, reportedly by men on motorcycles who gave his car a case before attacking him with machetes.
