New Delhi, May 17: Heavy rains lashed parts of southern Hyderabad city on Thursday evening, a news agency ANI reported. The India Meteorological Department said that light to moderate rainfall is expected at few places in Telangana in the next 2-3 days. According to weather department, thunderstorm expected for the next 48 hours at some places in the state. Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued fresh warnings of thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail storms for the national capital and Jammu and Kashmir. The other parts including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, and parts of North West India is also expected to hit by thunderstorm accompanied with strong winds. On Wednesday, IMD had issued fresh weather warning for 72 hours for national capital and its adjoining areas. According to reports, thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds (with speed 50-70 km) is very likely at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
A severe dust storm, accompanied with strong winds and light rains, had hit Delhi NCR during wee hours on Wednesday causing power outage and uprooting trees in several parts. The storm struck the national capital and nearby regions around 3 AM on May 16. This comes after on May 13-14, a deadly thunderstorm claimed over 80 lives across five states in the country.
