Shimla: Two people on Wednesday died and over 25 got injured after an HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) bus travelling from Nalagarh to Jainagar fell in a gorge in Jamli area in Bilaspur district, news agency ANI reported. All those injured have been shifted to a district hospital.
While one person died on the spot, another succumbed to injuries on the way to a hospital, Bilaspur Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Kumar told PTI.
A rescue operation is underway and the injured have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the SP said, adding that the bus fell into a nearly 50-feet deep gorge in Jamli.
When contacted, the SP said, “I am on my way to the spot and will be able to provide more information about the accident after reaching the spot.”
In a similar incident on September 3, three people died while 44 got injured after an HRTC bus fell into a gorge near Chintpurni. The incident took place when a bus with 47 people onboard travelling from Chintpurni to Hoshiarpur, fell into the gorge after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
All the injured were immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment.
