The Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections were held peacefully in the 68 assembly constituencies or Vidhan Sabha seats and now it is time for the results. The main contenders in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017 are Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. Both the parties have fielded candidates on all the 68 seats. While chief ministerial candidate of the ruling Congress party is incumbent Chief Minister Virbhadhra Singh, Prem Kumar Dhumal is BJP’s face for the top post. In the 2012 assembly elections in Himachal, the Congress party had bagged a total of 36 assembly constituencies out of 68, while the BJP had won 26.
Although the political contest in Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections is tough between the BJP and Congress, the opinion poll and exit poll results gave the saffron party an edge tilting the victory scale in its favour.
