Shimla, July 27: Earthquake of magnitude 3.8 on Richter scale struck Kangra district at around 1:40 PM on Friday. No casualties have been reported so far. More details are awaited.
In an earlier incident on July 25, an earthquake of mild magnitude 2.9 on Richter Scale struck Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. The tremors were felt at 06:52 PM. No reports of injuries or any damage to property was reported. The epicentre of the quake was at a depth of 10 km, the Meteorological Department said, adding that tremors were felt in and around Kangra district.

The state was hit by a total of four quakes in June. The previous ones were felt in Chamba and Shimla districts on June 14, 17 and 23, respectively. Most parts of Himachal Pradesh fall in high seismic sensitive zone and quakes are a regular feature in the region.
