Dhaka, Sep 26: The Hindu Rohingyas, who have taken shelter in Bangladesh relief camps along with the Muslim Rohingyas, have claimed they were forced to adopt Islam and harassed by some unknown men clad in black in the Bangladesh relief camps. The Hindu women, as claimed, are being forced to remove their vermilion, break bangles and change their names by them.
Speaking with India Today, a Hindu Rohingya refugee Puja, who now calls herself Rabia, said that her husband was killed by a few men and not by the army. Her entire family was shot dead in front of her but she was left to live as a captive.
The India Today reported Puja claiming that the men took her and her family to a forest and asked her to read namaz or she won’t be released. She claimed that the men removed her virmilion and told her that she would be allowed to live only if she changed her religion. For almost three weeks, she was made to wear a burqa and live with them. (Also Read: Who Are Rohingya Muslims And Why Government Wants to Deport Them?)
“I was made to read namaz… I had to say Allah, but my heart was beating for Bhagwan… My co-dwellers started searching for me and came to know that I was living in a Muslim camp,” Puja was quoted as saying by India Today.

Another woman Sadia – originally named Rica – was forced to change her religion. It was on August 25 when the men entered the residences of Hindu men and launched an attack. The men were brutally beaten and then killed in a row, she claimed. “Only eight women were allowed to stay among them mostly young and beautiful. They were told ‘You will have to turn Muslim and marry us’ We had no option but to surrender and go with them,” she claimed. While this all has been going
However, the government officials say that they have no idea about such things happening to the Hindu Rohingyas. “We do not have any such information. If it has occurred, we will take necessary action,” Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar, Md. Ali Hossain told India Today.
