New Delhi, July 28: Making a sarcastic remark on cow vigilantism, a grandnephew of Subhas Chandra Bose asked Hindus to stop eating mutton as Mahatma Gandhi used to drink Goat’s milk and treated it as mother. “Gandhi ji used to stay in my grandfather-Sarat Chandra Bose’s house at 1 WoodburnPark in Kolkata. He demanded goat’s milk! Two goats brought to the house for this purpose. Gandhi protector of Hindus treated goats as Mata by consuming goats milk. Hindus stop eating goat’s meat,” Chandra Kumar Bose, grandnephew of Netaji tweeted. Also Read - 65 Goats Worth ₹ 5.57 Lakhs Die of Suffocation at Mutton Shop in Maharashtra's Bhiwandi

His tweet did not go down well with  Tripura governor Tathagata Roy and he hit back at Bose saying,” “Neither Gandhiji nor your grandfather ever said goats were Mata — that’s your conclusion. Nor did Gandhiji (or anyone else) ever proclaim that he was the protector of Hindus. We Hindus regard the cow as our mother, not the goat. Please don’t peddle such rot.” Also Read - One Dies After Cow Vigilantes Brutally Thrash 5 People In Delhi, Probe Ordered

The twitter banter between the duo continued and Bose in a reply said,”Gandhiji insisted on having goat’s milk while staying in our ancestral house — it was implied that he treated the goat as Mata. That was it. There need not be any argument/controversy on this issue.”

To that Roy replied,“What has that got to do with goat being a mother? Gandhiji’s dearest disciple Jawaharlal Nehru (and his community, Kashmiri pandits) are all meat eaters!”

Clarifying his statement later, CK Bose, while talking to ANI said,”One has to understand the subtlety of my tweet. The entire nation is shocked to see the kind of violence and lynching taking place right across the country.”
