New Delhi, July 28: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader and party president’s daughter Kanimozhi on Saturday said that M Karunanidhi’s health condition is better and his blood pressure had stabilised. Karunanidhi was admitted to Kauvery Hospital at around 1:30 am today after a sudden drop in blood pressure. A top official of the hospital had informed that the 94-year-old leader is undergoing treatment at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Meanwhile, DMK supporters gathered outside the Kauvery Hospital where Karunanidhi is still admitted.
However, Editor of Tamil weekly Thuglaq said that Karunanidhi is on life support system.
Earlier today, DMK leader A Raja had said that Karunanidhi’s blood pressure went down and hence he was shifted to the hospital. “His blood pressure is now normal and there is nothing to worry,” Raja informed media later.
A medical bulletin from the hospital said that the veteran leader’s blood pressure has been stabilised with medical management and he is being treated by a team of expert doctors.
Several leaders inquired about DMK president’s health including Prime Minister Narendra Modi who asked about the ill health of Karunanidhi and prayed for his quick recovery. PM Modi also spoke to Karunanidhi’s son MK Stalin and daughter Kanimozhi regarding the same. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also wished former chief minister of Tamil Nadu Karunanidhi for a speedy recovery.
DMK working president MK Stalin had earlier informed that party president Kalaignar M Karunanidhi’s health has improved and that he is recovering steadily. Addressing the media in Chennai, Stalin said, “he (Karunanidhi) is recovering steadily as his fever is coming down.”
Karunanidhi is suffering from high fever due to Urinary Tract Infection and has been admitted to Kauvery Hospital since July 18. He is on intravenous antibiotics.
