Jaipur, June 19: A man was held on Tuesday for making a hoax bomb call to low-cost carrier IndiGo’s call centre for its Jaipur-Mumbai flight. The caller has been identified as Mohit Kumar Tank, a dance choreographer from Jaipur, and is being interrogated by the police, according to a Hindustan Times report.

Earlier, the authorities termed the threat call a hoax after carrying out probe, and the flight operations resumed after clearance.

The report cited sources saying that Tank, who is a choreographer with a dance reality show, made the call in order to get the flight delayed as he was running late.

“The airline later called up this particular passenger who had missed the flight and assured him that he would get a ticket for the next flight. As soon as he reached the Jaipur airport, CISF questioned him and he confessed to have made the call. He was handed over to the Sanganer police for further interrogation,” Hindustan Times quoted an official as saying.

The call centre received the bomb threat at around 5.30 am on Sunday morning, in which the caller said that there was a bomb in flight 6E 218, which runs between Jaipur and Mumbai. The flight was already on its way when the bomb threat call was received.

“We immediately reported the matter to Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) and followed all security protocols. The concerned authorities carried out the investigation and declared the call as specific bomb threat. Following clearance, operations will be resumed as normal,” the airline said in a statement earlier.
