Uttar Pradesh, Mar 13: Three people died while one fell sick after consuming illicit liquor in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad in the Khora circle area late on Monday. All four were rushed to the hospital in Shankar Vihar area but three of them could not be saved. Following the hooch tragedy, UP CM Yogi Adityanath ordered inquiry into the incident. Uttar Pradesh police is investigating the matter and efforts are on the seize more bottles of the liquor, sold under the name of ‘Party Special’, that was reportedly consumed by the victims. Also Read - Mathura Temples to be Closed For Weekend Owing to Lockdown
This is not the first time that people have lost their lives to hooch in UP. Earlier this year, 11 people died in Barabanki after consuming illicit liquor. While allegations were made on the quality of the liquor, the district administration had maintained that most of the deaths were natural. On its part, the Yogi Adityanath government has brought out a bill that provides for death penalty and life imprisonment for those dealing in illicit liquor. The bill has got Governor Ram Naik’s nod too.
