New Delhi, May 15: Hosadurga, Holalkere (SC), Jagalur (ST), Harapanahalli and Harihar constituencies in Karnataka went to polls on May 12. The results of these constituencies will be declared on Tuesday. The main contenders in these constituencies are BJP, Congress and Janata Dal Secular. Hosadurga Assembly constituency witnessed a tough fight between BJP, INC and JD(S) candidates. Holalkere (SC) seat was reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates. M. Chandrappa (BJP), H. Anjaneya (Congress), Srinivas Gadige (JDS) were the main contenders. Meanwhile, Jagalur (ST) constituency was reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates. Congress’ HP Rajesh and JD(S)’ Devendrappa were the main contenders for 2018 polls. Presently, HP Rajesh is the sitting MLA of Jagalur (ST) constituency. On the other hand, Harapanahalli which is a general category seat witnessed tough battle between BJP’s G Karunakara Reddy, INC’s M P Ravindra. Several Independent candidates were also in fray from this constituency. In Harihar constituency BJP’s Harish BP, Congress’ S Ramappa and JD(S)’ Shivashankar HS were in fray. In 2013, JD(S)’ HS Shivashankar had defeated Congress’ S Ramappa.
In the 2013 Karnataka Assembly Election Results, he Congress party had registered thumping victory by bagging 123 seats, while the BJP got only 44 seats.
