New Delhi, Oct 4: After over a month long cat-and-mouse game, the adopted daughter of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insa, Honeypreet was arrested by a team of Haryana police. Another team led by an IG-ranked officer, began interrogating Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja. She has been locked up in the Chandimandir police station in Panchkula. Honeypreet was wanted in a sedition case after violence of Dera followers in Sirsa and Panchkula, in which 38 people had lost their lives. She had been at large for 38 days as the police raided her possible hideouts. Recently, she was spotted in Delhi. She surfaced on television news channel, where she gave exclusive interviews in her car. In the interview, she said that she was innocent and she wanted to surrender before the Punjab and Haryana Court. Haryana DGP had said the police will nab her first. Honeypreet was last spotted as she accompanied Ram Rahim to Rohtak jail, where he was taken after a CBI court pronounced him guilty of raping two Dera women. She was travelling on the Zikarpur-Patiala road on Tuesday afternoon when a Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by ACP Mukesh Kumar, intercepted the vehicle and arrested her. She was travelling with another woman.
The SIT received an input that she was travelling on the road. She was arrested from Punjab; hence the Punjab police were informed. The Haryana police said that those who helped her would also face action.
