Hyderabad, Aug 13: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TDP) MP D Srinivas’ Son Sanjay was on Monday arrested after 12 students of a college filed a police complaint accusing him of sexually harassing them, the police said. Sanjay was arrested after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the high court.

“Sanjay has been accused by 12 girls of sexual harassment and indecent behaviour on the college premises and other places,” Nizamabad Assistant Commissioner of Police M Sudarshan told news agency PTI. The girls study at Shaankary Nursing College in Nizamabad which is run by Sanjay.

The incident came to light when the 12 BSc students of the college told state Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy and the police that Sanjay had been sexually harassing them and seeking sexual favours. They alleged that the accused had also misbehaved with them on several occasions.

The girls alleged that the accused used to call the girls into his room, asked them to remove their clothes and made sexual advances towards them. Following a complaint, Sanjay filed for an anticipatory bail and went absconding.

The court then ordered the Nizamabad police to put up a notice at his house asking him to appear before the court before August 12. The police arrested him after an interrogation. The accused had, reportedly, surrendered at the Assistant Commissioner’s office.
