New Delhi, June 16: In a bid to relieve his sister from the hardships of looking after mentally challenged twins, a man killed his two niece  in Hyderabad’s Chaitanyapuri area on Friday. The accused Mallikarjun Reddy killed the 12-year-old siblings (Srijana Reddy and Vishnuvardhan Reddy) by strangulating them in his rented house. He has been taken into custody and is being interrogated. Police said that the incident came to light when the landlord noticed the accused along with two others trying to shift the bodies in his car. He alerted the police and they arrested Mallikarjun, his friend Venkatrami Reddy and car driver Vivek Reddy. If reports are to be believed, the accused had brought the children from their Nalgonda home. He had told his sister Lakshmi and brother-in-law Srinivas Reddy that he would teach them how to swim. The parents told the police that the twins were mute and also mentally challenged since birth. The accused had confessed to the crime and told police that he could not let his sister suffer the hardship of looking after the children.  The parents did not lodge a police complaint against Mallikarjun.
