June 27: Hyderabad’s India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted heavy rains for the next five days in Telangana. Heavy rains are expected in major parts of the state including Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal, Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medak and Nalgonda districts of Telangan.Also Read - Uttarakhand Rains: 34 Dead, 5 Missing, State Announces Compensation For Affected Families
Met also predicted heavy rains in coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh for the next five days. Rains are also likely to occur in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts. Hyderabad was one of the cities which reeled under the hot sun this summer. Maximum temperature was recorded at 41 degree Celsius. Heatwave had killed over 249 in the state. Heat-related ailments were also on rise. Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala also saw heavy showers. Heavy rains in Mumbai caused water-logging in many areas in the city. IMD has issued warning to fishermen in the wake of high tide in Arabian Sea.
Meanhwhile, prices of select grains and the wholesale grains market increased owing to rains.
