New Delhi: At a time when a number of BJP leaders are making ground review over the party’s dismal performance in the Delhi Assembly Election 2020, party’s Lok Sabha MP from East Delhi Gautam Gambhir on Thursday held himself and other MPs responsible for the party’s performance in the polls.
Speaking to India Today, the BJP MP said that all seven MPs from his party, including himself, are responsible for the party’s poor show in the election. He also stated that all should take responsibility and no one should run away from this responsibly.
Talking about AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s massive win, he said that the objective of his party is to make the national capital capable and not helpless. Assessing the [performance, he said that the party probably could not convince voters with its agenda.
Talking about news reports about him becoming the next Delhi BJP chief, he said that the question is hypothetical and does not carry significance. However, he added that if the offer comes to him, he will consider it. He added further that the party high command will decide the matter.
However, he slammed the AAP chief for winning the Delhi polls by giving out freebies to voters. He said that the Delhi government will continue to give what is being given free to woo voters for vote bank politics.
The 70 Assembly seats in Delhi went o polls on February 8 and the counting of votes took place on February 11. As per the final update from the Election Commission, the AAP won 62 seats and the BJP managed to get single digit 8 seats. But the Congress could not win even a single seat for the second consecutive term.
As per updates from the AAP, Arvind Kejriwal will take oath on February 16 at Ramlila Maidan.
